Overview
Mount Kilimanjaro, located in Tanzania, is the highest peak in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. It is a dormant stratovolcano composed of three cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira. Kilimanjaro is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from tropical rainforest at the base to alpine desert and glacial zones near the summit.
The mountain is a popular trekking destination, attracting climbers from around the world who attempt to reach the summit via various routes, such as the Marangu, Machame, and Lemosho. The best time to climb is during the dry seasons, from January to March and June to October.
Kilimanjaro is not only a natural wonder but also a UNESCO World Heritage site, celebrated for its stunning landscapes and rich biodiversity, including unique flora and fauna. It holds cultural significance for local communities, particularly the Chaga and Maasai people.
